This rare armchair was designed by the Swedish designer Tage Westberg. This particular model was named ‘Kapten Block’ and it was produced by Westbergs Möbler in Sweden in the early 1960s. The distinctive design is marked by the lines of the slightly backwards sloping seat and backrests. The upholstered armrests are resting on a beech wood supports in a reverse funnel shape. The high backrest with a buttonned upholstery detail. The tapered front and back legs are also in solid beech wood. The generous proportions and slightly reclined positioning make this a very comfortable armchair to sit in.
The chair has been completely restored. The upholstery has been renewed in a taupe/ dark beige bouclé fabric. The legs have been restored and refinished.
