This unique swivel desk chair is coming from the private collection of a former boat captain living in the coastal town of Sölvesborg in Southern Sweden. Originally the swivel chair was made as the captain’s chair aboard the ship he sailed with in the late 1920s. Later the chair was disassembled from the boat and placed in the home of the same captain, where it has remained for decades.

The seat and spindled back are made of elm wood, which has achieved a beautiful natural patina over time. The chair is resting on a swivel base which is made of black lacquered wrought iron with a turned shape. The iron frame is resting on an X-shaped elmwood base. The combination of materials and shapes give the chair a rustic, robust yet elegant feel.
