This exceptionally rare pair of armchairs was designed by Melchiorre Bega and produced in Italy in the late 1940s. The design is marked by the elegant, elongated frame and the curved lines of the armrest. The lower frame is in solid walnut wood with a beautiful, warm grain. The four-sided tapered front legs and the striking brass plated back legs give the chairs a refined and distinct appearance. The design perfectly illustrates the originality and craftsmanship of the work of Melchiorre Bega.
The pair is currently upholstered in an ivory white chenille fabric. The wooden frame and brass legs are in very good condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
