This round dining table was designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured in Italy in the early 1950s. The sculptural frame is executed in solid mahogany and consists of a cross base with 4 legs. The top is made of mahogany as well, with the upper layer veneered in a beautiful Thuja burr. The combination of the high quality materials used and the craftsmanship of the construction make this a refined piece. This particular design by Ponti is regarded as a predecessor to his later designs produced by Singer and Sons from 1953 onwards.

The table is in overall very good condition. It comes with a certificate of expertise from the Gio Ponti Archives (no. 16194/000).
