This pair of lounge chairs was designed by Adolf Wrenger and produced by his company in Lippe, Germany in the early 1950s. The curved shape and the round lines of both the backrest and seat give the chairs a striking and elegant feel. The seat appears to be composed of three tiers tapering upwards, adding to the refinement and depth of the design. The curved backrest ending in a wing shape contributes to a comfortable seating position. We have a matching sofa available from the same provenance, as pictured in the last image.
The chairs retain their original mohair velvet upholstery, with a vertical striped corduroy velvet. Considering its age the original upholstery is in relatively good condition, given the age-related wear we recommend reupholstery. The legs are in solid oak wood, which have been finished in a dark stain.
