This exceptional wingback chair was produced by a Danish Cabinetmaker in the 1930s. The design is marked by its high back, distinct wings and curved armrests. The chair is a Danish modern interpretation of the classical British wing chair, with more organic lines and a sculptural shape.
The chair has tapered front legs and slightly outward bending back legs, all in solid stained beech wood. The original leather upholstery is in a beautifully patinated condition with double nailhead details throughout. The seat cushion is missing. The leather with some wear and tears mostly on the seat area and armrests. We recommend to reupholster this piece.
Other Danish designers and cabinetmakers working in the same style and era were Frits Henningsen, Jacob Kjær and Mogens Koch.
